My dog came running out of the field the other day with a big snake in his mouth. He was running around with it so proudly. Prancing with the poor, harmless snake. The snake was still alive when Poseidon started to bury it.
burying the snake
My husband then saved the snake. It was still alive but barely. Then that naught dog came running by and snatched the snake up. He ran into the field with it and buried it for good. He got mud all over his face in the process. That dog is an a-hole.
Last night I made the best Irish dinner. I guess that's not saying much since it's the only Irish dinner I've ever made. I made the standard corned beef. I put it in a crockpot with beer! It came out so good. I normally don't like corned beef but I made sandwiches with sourdough and it was tasty. The other Irish food I made was colcannon. It took a lot of work but it came out delicious. I used the recipe here but used cabbage and kale sauteed in butter. It was yummy and soooo filling. I think the colcannon would be hearty and comforting in cold weather.
I have been using coconut oil for some time now. I use coconut oil in my soaps. It is the perfect soap making oil. It gives soap a great nourishing lather and makes a hard bar. Until recently I didn't know you could cook with coconut oil (I'm a little slow). Tropical Traditions sent me a jar of their Gold Label virgin coconut oil to try out. If you have never heard of coconut oil before check out this link: What is Coconut oil?
The oil smells lovely! Not overpowering, just a hint of coconut. For my first foray into the world of cooking with coconut oil I picked what I thought was a fairly easy recipe. Tropical Traditions has a ton of coconut oil recipes on their website and I picked a soft pretzel recipe. The recipe was fairly easy. I had to melt the coconut oil a little since it does harden in cool weather. I tried my best to make a pretzel shape but I failed miserably. They looked a mess but they really did taste like a pretzel! They were fantastic but next time I think I'll make pretzel knots or something easier for my inexperienced hands. I didn't detect any hint of coconut in the pretzels and they were nice and moist!
Tropical Traditions produces the highest quality coconut oils on the market and have the highest levels of antioxidants. They use no chemicals in the extraction process. Coconut oil has been used in cooking for thousands of years! It is rich in lauric acid, a nutrient that supports the body’s immune system and it is a healthy fat!
Below is a video on all the different ways to use coconut oil

Guess what's growing in my yard? Chives! I was mowing the lawn and swear I could smell them but I couldn't see them. Then later when I was getting the hose I saw them growing like crazy! Organic, fresh and free! Now if I my yard would start growing strawberries, tomatoes and oranges I would be one happy girl.
In my house the laundry never ends. There are only three people in my house yet somehow I always have a load in the washing machine. It is a never ending chore that according to my husband only I am qualified to do.
All I can say is thank god I am living in the age of technology and cool inventions such as Dropps laundry detergent. I usually use liquid detergent and can't stand powdered. The liquid detergent always ends up a mess. Even with that little thing in the bottle to catch the extra liquid there are always sticky drips going down the bottle and then making the counter gross.
Saving me from this mess is Dropps. A little packet of concentrated detergent that you just throw into your laundry. No mess!
Dropps work on all fabrics and colors as well as in all temperatures. They also work in HE machines!
Dropps are also green! This is from Dropps:
Greener for the planet, the Dropps formula has been approved by the EPA’s Design for the Environment (DfE) program, which recognizes formulas with safer chemistry. In removing all water from the formula, we have made it so concentrated that we can put the liquid detergent in a water soluble film, which is 100 percent biodegradable. The small, pre-measured pacs allow us to ditch the detergent jug entirely, thereby reducing the plastic used in packaging the product—along with the energy that goes into shipping it. If you were to compare Dropps to traditional laundry detergent, the same amount of wash loads can be shipped in 1 truck carrying Dropps versus 3 trucks carrying traditional jug detergent. The space reduction extends into the home. The product is incredibly lightweight and space efficient; it takes up less space in the laundry room and on the store shelf. We’ve taken this one step further and teamed up with TerraCycle® to create an innovative recycling solution for its packaging, making Dropps a 100% zero waste liquid laundry detergent.
I was sent a sample of fresh scent and baby dropps. I did a load of laundry with the fresh scent pack. I just tossed one packet in and waited for it to finish. When my laundry was all dry it smelled very clean and pleasant. Not a really strong scent, which is the way I like it. For such a small packet my laundry was perfectly clean and there was no trace of the packet on the clothes or in the laundry machine.
I was very impressed with the way Dropps worked and how convenient it was to use. Dropps are convenient, simple, effective, and all around awesome!

I wish I had a sewing machine and knew how to use it. There are oodles of things I would like to make. My husband has bought me two sewing machines in the past. One was a fairly decent one off of craigslist. I couldn't figure it out. I even took it over to a friends house to see if her experienced sister could help. She could not. So I got rid of it. Last year hubby bought me another sewing machine from a yard sale. It looked like it was from the 70's or 80's. It was all yellow and green. I could not figure this one out either. My very experienced neighbor came over to look at it. Alas it was not meant to be. To Goodwill it went.
So I am thinking I might break down and buy a brand new machine with directions. Maybe, just maybe the third time will be the charm. I have a whole board on pinterest of things I plan to make!
My poor baby boy is so sick. I had to bribe him to go to the doctor with a McDonald's happy meal. The poor thing ate one bite of a chicken nugget and some apples then gave up. We came home and we watched Puss N' Boots. It wasn't the right version though. It was a really weird, annoying version. Lucky for me he fell asleep during it and I got to turn it off.
On Saturday he was slightly sick so we thought we would cheer him up and stay out of the cold and rain by seeing The Lorax. We haven't been to the movies in a long time and it was a shock when the total was $30! Then of course we had to get popcorn and soda. $42 later we got to see a mediocre movie. And the 3D gave me a headache. Guess what, no more movies for us!
It is hard to pick a favorite Beatles song but I would say "Day in the Life" is mine. Love how it totally changes in the middle. Paul speaks a little in the beginning about the introduction of the "I love to turn you on" phrase which is a drug reference. Shocking! lol
