The Post Norwood World

My little boy has made it out of major open heart surgery with flying colors! He is 8 days post Norwood, the most complex and intense surgery. The first day after surgery was rough. He had tubes everywhere and looked like a demented science experiment. I almost passed out when I saw him. Thankfully he was kept asleep for a few days and felt nothing. The doctors and nurses keep commenting that they never see a newborn do this well. Unfortunately he is the exception. From what I am reading most kids have at least some kind of complications. I am so grateful that my little Alex has had none!

He might be discharged tomorrow! I'm excited and scared! I'm nervous about germs, medicines, his incision, pulse ox machine and pretty much everything. I just can't wait to get a normal routine down and have a normal family again.
