New Dog

We have a new dog. This was not on my to do list. She just showed up one day and never left. She is very sweet and friendly but has puppy energy and is not quite house trained yet. She took a giant dump on some scrapbook papers I had on the floor. Tragic. I was going to take her to the humane society but shockingly there isn't one around here. The only place that will take dogs is the pound and it's a long drive. We named her Billie I think she's a virgo.

Did you know that most soaps sold in stores are not actually soap? They are synthetic detergents. Dove for example is not real soap. Spotted Hippo dissects what Dove actually is here. Very interesting!

My soaps of course are real, honest, handcrafted soap.

Our First Mardi Gras Season

It's Mardi Gras season! This means lots of purple, gold, and green around here.
We had our first king cake today. There is a baby hidden inside the cake and whoever gets the piece with the baby has to buy the next cake. This is all new to me. In New Orleans you get an entire week off in school for Mardi Gras! This weekend I think we will go check out a parade. Since we aren't actually in New Orleans I don't think it will get too crazy.

Mmmmm Coffee

I sure love coffee. I miss going to work and first thing I would do was go fill up my mug with hot coffee. Sometimes the coffee was bad. Really bad. But when it was good it made my day. Work seemed much easier with my steaming cup right next to me. I miss that ritual. A few times someone kept stealing my creamer. I didn't mind if it was a little bit but they nearly emptied it. So I put a BUNCh of salt in it and maybe some hot pepper. Ha ha I don't know who actually used it but it still makes me laugh thinking about the face they made when they drank it.

McDonalds coffee is not bad...usually. But their coffee house inspired drinks are pretty sad. First of all the people at McDonalds are not baristas! They have no idea how to make a mocha latte the right way. Once in a while they get lucky and it turns out ok. But usually it is a pretty sad attempt and it's still expensive.
