Cookies and Cows

Decided it was time to make Christmas cookies. It's just not Christmas without them. And just like every year I burned the first pan. Ahhh tradition. Evan really wanted to help so I gave him a few to decorate. He mashed the sprinkles in with his fingers that were just in his nose. Luckily the ones he did were very easy to pick out and I set them aside as Evan's special cookies.

In other news it was a sad day here on the "farm". One or maybe two of the cows got taken away. I think it was a cow and not a bull. So hopefully she was pregnant and just moved to a better place. The bulls are all acting weird now. They were fighting and now they seem to be trying to hide . Poor things.  I'm not exactly sure of their purpose here. For eating or breeding? Oh the turkeys are gone too. :( I miss my clumsy turkey friends.

Mighty River

We were driving around and ended up at the Mississippi river. It was surprisingly clean. I thought the banks would be full of trash since some of the neighborhoods we were driving through were um, interesting. Evan had fun going up the big steps and looking into the water. I just felt dizzy.

Christmas is really this week? That can't be right. I think there has been some kind of mistake.  Ok going to go lose my mind now.

Do people still send postcards? I just sent a free postcard with cell phone postcards. I found out about it from bzzagent (which is also awesome). Yesterday I ate craw fish etoufee. It was really really delicious. The food in Louisiana really is amazing. It's like ultimate comfort food for me. Everything has rice and gravy.  Unfortunately it means weight gain.
I'm getting better at making gumbo.  Too scared to try seafood gumbo yet but soon!

It has been so cold here. Not Wisconsin cold more like Phoenix cold. I still got to use our 

fireplace and it sure was cozy. Too bad the fireplace is in the dining room and

not in the living room.

Tree Time!

We got our tree. A really real tree. It's short and fat and smells fantastic. You just can not beat the smell of a real live tree. No not even yankee candle comes close. A real tree does have it's drawback though. Like the needles constantly falling off and worrying that the dog will pee on it. It's worth it though.

Manly Soap

No whining today. Instead some more soap. This should be a great soap for men. It is scented with sandalwood and has clay mixed in. Very macho! I just hate waiting so long to use it!

Bitching and Moaning

Is it really Christmas time? Ugh. Normally I love Christmas but this year I am away from everyone I know. I'm stuck home all day with a moody three year old and a grumpy old dog. The days are kinda starting to blend into each other. And this area is just weird.

Like yesterday the garbage was supposed to come. It is supposed to come early in the morning. I think it came at the right time once since I've been here. It usually comes around 4:30pm and yesterday it didn't come at all. In Gilbert it was right on time every time. And in Gilbert they had signs for all the streets so you knew where the hell you were. The only signs around here (if you can find them) are numbers. You have to drive down 42 to get to 12 then get off at 435. ARRRGGHHH

Oh and the traffic is nuts. I came from an area with millions of drivers to an area with a couple hundred thousand and it's worse. !Que?

and the mexican food sucks.
